The Team
Alex, Justin, and Nathan are passionate athletes and advocates with a combined 100+ years of lived experience with Type 1 diabetes. Much of that time has been spent in pursuit of endurance sports, podium finishes, travel, and adventure. Rather than letting diabetes hold them back, they’ve used it as fuel for their success - learning from adversity and turning challenge into opportunity.The three were brought together by cycling and a shared belief: diabetes advocacy and innovation need a new approach. Too often, the conversation around diabetes is rooted in rigid rules and prescriptive advice. Instead, they believe in empowering individuals with knowledge, allowing diabetes to seamlessly integrate into daily life, and even become a competitive advantage in sport and beyond.InStride T1D was born from this mindset: to push boundaries, foster innovation, and create meaningful change in the diabetes community. Alex
Alex raced professionally at the pro-continental level, competing against some of the best cyclists in the world. He was also part of an eight-person Race Across America team that set a world record, completing the coast-to-coast race in 5 days, 9 hours, and 5 minutes. Now a father and software engineer, he continues to race at a high level while balancing life’s many demands.
Nathan
Nathan is an elite-level endurance athlete, triathlete, accomplished waterman, and member of a world record-setting Race Across America team. He believes that T1D has given him a deeper, more intimate understanding of his body and metabolism—an edge, as he likes to joke, over people stuck driving a stock “automatic.” Whether he's racing his bike, freediving, surfing, or fighting cancer (a story for another time), Nathan always seeks to turn life with T1D into an advantage.
Nathan

Justin
Justin is a dominant force on the international gravel racing scene, with top finishes in the Elite Unbound 200 and multiple appearances at the UCI Gravel World Championships representing Team USA. His experience competing at the highest levels of endurance racing has shaped his perspective on performance, resilience, and the role diabetes plays in elite competition.
